8th July - Cast A Moment In Time With A Baby Casting Kit

24th June - Dame Mary Peters is cast on the eve of her 70th birthday

Northern Ireland’s most famous Olympian was today preparing to return to the track to celebrate her 70th birthday. But Dame Mary Peters will be walking for charity rather than running for gold medals when she puts on her training shoes next month.

Dame Mary began her birthday celebrations early this week by casting her place in Olympic history. The Gold medallist — best known for her glittering athletics career — was at the Mary Peters Track in Belfast yesterday to have her hands and feet cast as part of a National Lottery campaign (above).

The Summer Olympic gold medallist, Dame Mary said she was privileged to be involved in a campaign which recognises the sporting achievements of the UK’s Olympic and Paralympic gold medallists.

She said: “It’s an honour to be part of this wonderful campaign, especially in the run up to the London Olympics. It’s such an exciting time.”

The casting marked the start of Dame Mary’s 70th birthday celebrations and already, plans are in action for the big day on July 6.

21st May - Brief fame for our clay hand & footprint kits on The Apprentice

Having had clay imprints of baby's hands & feet filmed as a service for team Empire's apprentices to offer at The Baby Show task, we were all but edited out of the final show - poor us!

Although the TV episode focussed on the products the teams chose they had also chose a service each to offer, clay hand & footprint impressions from Creative Casting & T-shirt printing from Simply Colors.

You can see the clay kit on the stand next to the lovely Debra & they did do impressions for customers on the day. Such a brief moment of fame...!

16th April - Ellie Simmonds, our youngest ever Gold Olympian is cast for 2012

A trip to the Welsh National Pool saw Ellie having her hands & feet cast by Creative Casting. Ellie was keen to have a copy for herself & we'll update this section with a photo once they're ready!

 

 

3rd April - Olympic Cyclists hands & feet cast for The National Lottery

Sir Chris Hoy was just one of five of the Olympic cycling team to have their hands & feet casts as part of Camelot's 2012 promotional press releases.

Julie was the lucky lady who dipped all their hands & feet into the impression mix with Jo power mixing in the background.

All the athletes found the experience fun but a bit weird with Jody Cundy suffering from some hairs being pulled out of his leg as the mould was removed - ouch!!

26th October - Shirley Robertson OBE is the first sailor to be cast for the Go for Gold Lottery Promotion

DOUBLE Olympic gold medallist Shirley Robertson was immortalised at the UKSA in Cowes when she had her hands and feet cast for a golden plaque.
Shirley, who won Olympic gold medals in Sydney 2000 and Athens in 2004, had the impressions of her hands and feet made as part of the build-up to the London Games.
The event was staged by the National Lottery and aims to honour British Olympic Games competitors from every corner of the UK. The casts will form part of an exhibition in the run-up to the London Games.
Shirley said: “I am very proud to have represented Great Britain in sailing, but being recognised like this here in Cowes where I train is a huge thrill.
“I’d like to thank The National Lottery for helping raise funds that will go towards London 2012, which will be an event that we, as an entire country, will be extremely proud of.”

1st September - Olympic castings continue with Chris Boardman MBE

Now some of our Olympic athletes are back in the UK, The National Lottery castings to promote the Go for Gold scratchcard were back on the Creative Casting agenda.

This week we visited the Manchester Velodrome to take casts of Chris Boardman, gold medal winner in the 1992 Olympics in the individual pursuit. Chris was very laid back about having the casts done & commented on the amazing detail produced in the alginate mould. He did say it was a very weird feeling having your feet dunked in cold gloop though!

Chris has his own performance bike company: Boardman Bikes & one of his cycles was ridden by to victory in the road race by Nicole Cooke in Beijing.

28th July - David Hemery CBE in Gloucester is the latest Olympic medallist to be cast

400m hurdle gold medal winner at the 1968 Mexico Olympics, David Hemery was fitter than the Creative Casting team by far when they met by the athletics track for the National Lottery Go for Gold Casting Press Call.

David was the first president of UK athletics & nows heads up the '21st Century Legacy' project, formed to offer inspiration to children by using the "qualities of champions". He was a delight to meet & spent considerable time chatting to some of the young athletes training at the track that morning.

 

21st July - Anita Lonsbrough MBE adds her impressions to the National Lottery collection

One of the best known women swimmers of our country was today back at Huddersfield Pool to have her hands & feet cast for Camelot. Anita won 200m breaststroke gold in the 1960 Olympics in Rome where she also met her delightful husband & cycling champion Hugh Porter.

Anita was the first woman to win the prestigious BBC Sports Personality of the Year & now works for The Telegraph. Watch the full interview with The Hudderfield Examiner.

18th July - National Lottery Casting of Karen Pickering MBE and Gregor Tait

Swimmers past & present were the focus of two casting sessions in association with The National Lottery.

Karen Pickering, currently starring in Five's Superstars programme has a huge collection of medals from years of swimming at the highest level. Gregor Tait is already a record holder & holds several Commonwealth Games medals but is now aiming for even better in the Beijing Olympics.

Both athletes were supporting The National Lottery Go for Gold Scratchcard promotion to help raise funds for the 2012 London Olympics.

11th July - National Lottery Casting of Lynn Davies MBE, Olympic Gold Medallist

The president of UK athletics & gold Olympic medal winner was the next in line for a casting session in Cardiff yesterday. During the casting session he talked of the role of Olympic Champions in supporting the 2012 Olympics as well as cracking a lot of jokes!

9th July - National Lottery Castings. Nick Gillingham MBE, the first of many.

This week saw the start of a series of 3D castings done by us on behalf of The National Lottery & Camelot. Nick Gillingham, bronze medal winner in the 200m breaststroke in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics & silver in the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Nick was a great sport, commenting on how cold the process was!

The Baby Show, Excel, 29 Feb - 2 March - great feedback on several new products!

Many of you got some great deals & we enjoyed talkiing to our customers over this busy weekend.

July 2007 - Angela Griffin has hand & feet casts made of her two children by Creative Casting
